TEFL Certification

In the fall semester of 2021, I decided to sign up for the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course here at Clemson. What this means is that I am now certified to teach English to those whose first language is not English. It was an 8 week long program, with 120 hours of work, plus a 10 hour practicum needed in order to complete the certification.

The curriculum entailed a variety of different learning techniques. Such as: extensive readings, introduction to new vocabulary, making our own lesson plans and teaching classmates, recording videos, learning behavioral patterns of younger vs older students, and real world experience.

At the end of the 120 hour workload, I had to opportunity to teach a young man from Columbia, trying to better his English proficiency in order to get into the Graduate school here at Clemson University. Which he ended up doing! It was an extremely time consuming, eye opening, and rewarding process that I can use now and in the future.

Here I have provided some samples of my work, as well as my certification.
